Tigersharks wrap up their Club Champs for 2011

Catch me if you can!

It is not very often you find someone who is simply born to swim… whatever stroke and whatever distance. Tigersharks are lucky enough to have one of those swimmers. Polly Painter turned 9yr on 2nd September and this was her first real competition. If she was nervous or scared it did not show, Polly swam inside the Regional Qualifying time for a 10yr old on everything she swam with the exception of the 800m FC. She did not just squeak inside she completely shattered all of them. Her natural technique and speed was incredible to watch and she left many parents and coach’s amazed at the ease she swims and races. Polly was a clear winner in the 9yr Category award with a massive 1293 points, almost double of the next swimmer in her age group. She now looks forward to the Wiltshire Age group Competition.

Considering Tigersharks lost 12 hours of water time a week for the first 6 weeks of the season the swimmers continued to perform exceptionally well. Many other swimmers were racking up County times and swimming inside Regional Qualifying times for 2012.
10 year old Tivy Durrant also clocked times inside every single Regional time for 2012. Her Frontcrawl swims in particular were outstanding, but she also showed her versatility as she powered inside all the IM and form stroke times.

Abbie Crook (10) also easily powered her way inside the backstroke, Breaststroke and IM times for 2012.
Two swimmers making massive improvements were Rebecca Cook (12) and Alex Eburne (13). Rebecca is proving to be a great all round swimmer but in particular her distance FC,  IM and Breaststroke swims which were outstanding. Alex Eburne showed the same strength in his Butterfly and IM swims as he emulated Rebecca with both of them flying inside their Regional times.
Other young swimmers setting out their stall swimming inside next year’s Regional times were Matilda Hall, Rebecca Flack, Conor Keye, Oliver Howitt & Alex Eburne.

Sophie Roberts is coming back into great form producing PB after PB but her 100m BK time of 1:06.48 was the icing on the cake for her over the weekend. Emma Pearce, Ella Luffman, Emily Weston, Michaela Boniface, Tom Howitt, Chris Chapman & Jake Hancock were all swimming to huge PB times over and over again. All of them stacking Regional time’s for 2012.

Meanwhile our younger swimmers were showing their strength and depth in both the boy’s and girl’s age groups. With swimmer after swimmer striking for what they hope will be County times and many swimmers who will not be old enough to compete next year doing the same.
Megan Adamson, Charlotte Purvis & Dina Nejkic (all 8) will not be old enough to swim in next year’s County competition but showed off their skills and potential. Alexander Painter (7) will not swim in the County competition for two years but he also struck well within this year’s QT’s. He seems to be showing the same outstanding skills as his sister.

Joe Kennedy (9) closed in on his first Regional time on the 200m BK and produced many other personal best times. New swimmers looking to set their mark this year, Miles Farrington (9) & Laura Edwards (9), Jasmin Poole, India Sharland, Georgina Hall & Olivia Flack (all 10) were also on top form and are proving to be strong contenders for this year’s County Competition and hopefully beyond.
Bethany Martin (14) came within a second of her first two Regional times in the 200m BK and 400m IM with strong swims. The future continues to look bright for Tigersharks with a very strong younger Age group coming up to fill the gap created as we lost another 7 swimmers to university this year.
