Aaron Lee back on Top

Aaron LeeAaron Lee has had a difficult time over the past few months following a horrible fracture injury to his clavicle and sternum. However at the Crawley Spring Open Meet Aaron proved what hard work and determination can do. Aaron suffered an injury that snapped his clavicle off his sternum in December and spent an agonising eight weeks being only able to kick in training. His rehabilitation back into swimming and coping with a permanent shortening of his arm has been fantastic.

Aaron just missed out on three National qualifying times in the 50m and 100m Backstroke and 50m Butterfly and cruised to victory in the 50m Butterfly from an outside lane. This gives him renewed confidence that he will make it back to the National Youth Competition in July for the third year in succession.

Alex Jones powered to a new NQT in the 200m Backstroke only to be disqualified at the start. However he is sure that this time will be achieved at next months Regional Competition.

Sam Clayton lowered his 100m Butterfly and 200m IM times in his quest to qualify for the Nationals again this year and Kane Baker produced some huge PB’s in his favoured events.

Sophie Hawkins had a poor outing with no luck at the 400m FC and 200m IM events she is chasing for National QT. Kieron German was disappointed with his 800m FC swim where he had hoped to drop just 2 seconds off his time to gain his first NQT.  Laura Young and Matthew Jones swam well throughout the weekend but again failed to produce the times they required.
