Tigersharks B – rilliant!!
The lead for the first half of the gala was hotly contested by all four teams but in the first 10 events the young sharks produced 9 PB's out of 10 with 1 st place spots going to Jacob Roberts (11) in the 50 Breast and Open swimmers Jon Lee and Anna Hanley taking a double in the 100 Back. Rachel Russell (15) and Aisha Lewis (10) continued the winning ways in the Open 100 Fly and 11/U 50 Breast with the Girls 13/U medley team of Tara Scott-Browne, Claudia Larsson, Rachel Russell and Alissa Johnson and the Boys Open medley team of Jon Lee, Kris Langley, Craig Roberts and Tom Peters also taking the honours in their events. By event 26 Tigersharks had taken a strong hold on the lead and were not about to give it up. Rachel Russell (15) cruised to victory in the 15/U 50 Fly with Jacob Roberts (11) taking the boys 13/U 50 Backstroke and Natalie Shirley snatched 1st place in the Open 100 Breast. Jon Lee easily won his second race in the open 100 Freestyle and 9 year old starlet Sophie Roberts took 1 st place in the 11/U backstroke. With wins in the boys 13/U Free relay from Jacob Roberts, Sam Jones, Tim Newcombe and Tom Ryczanowski and the boys Open Free relay team of Tom Peters, Kris Langley, Craig Roberts and Jon Lee the sharks finished 16 points clear of the next team. This great effort has moved Tigersharks B up from last position into 2 nd , only 6 points behind the overall leaders Swindon ASC. Tigersharks B will be determined to continue there outstanding performance in round 3 to hopefully move into the 1 st place spot. Final Score – Rd2 Tigersharks B 137 Meanwhile Tigersharks A team continued their assault in round 2 of division 1. The team swam some outstanding races and battled hard all evening. With double wins from Joshua Wheeler, Alex Jones and Jazz Carlin and wins from Natalie Montezuma, Sophie Hawkins and Dean Wiiliamsom and relay wins from Boys and Girls 11/U Free and Medley, Boys 13/U Free and Medley and Girls U/15 Free and Medley the team once again finished in a creditable 2 nd place. Team Captain Grant Turner was unable to swim this round due to World Class commitments and his absence makes a big difference, but the swimmers are a great team and swam well to maintain second place overall.
