Alexander JonesBritish Championships 2009

Alexander Jones and Dean Williamson competed at the 2009 British Championships last week. Following two consecutive weekends of racing at the Wiltshire Competition the boys had both had a poor preparation for their events in Sheffield.

Williamson went straight from competing on the Saturday to Sheffield to swim his 200m Butterfly event. This proved to be hard work for the 17-year-old and although he swam a time well inside his NQT for 2009 he found the last 50m excruciating. Finishing in a time of 2:10.95 he was not so disappointed considering the lead up to the event.

Alexander Jones swam a much better race with a week’s rest and a short taper. His swim in the 400m IM saw him break the County record for the sixth time in 12 months as he swam to a superb time of 4:35.59. He also took the scalp of some very good IM swimmers in the process.

Both Boys have had a fantastic 2009 Wiltshire Competition where they won 75% of the Men’s Championship titles between them.
