Tigersharks Top in Distance event!
Tigersharks Distance swimmers were out in force this weekend and produced some outstanding personal best times on the way. The girls took on the gruelling 1500m Frontcrawl event which is swam over 60 lengths of the 25m pool. Briony Merritt, 12 (pictured front right) stripped a massive 20 seconds off her PB which she had only recorded at the Club Champs in December to take Gold. Emily Weston also 12 (front left) reduced her PB by a massive 33 seconds to secure the bronze medal in the same age group. Seasoned distance swimmer Rosie Broad, 13 (centre back) improved on her time by five seconds to easily take the gold medal in the 13-year age group. In the Junior and Senior overall championships Rosie had to be content with 2nd place in both categories behind Josie Prunty (14) of Swindon Dolphins who produced a magnificent swim to take both championships. Briony Merritt was 3rd in the Junior Championship and 4th in the senior Championship. Rebecca Healy and Ella Luffman both swam very well to improve on their entry times. In the boys 800m event the Tigersharks boys led the way. Dean Williamson was crowned Senior Champion in a new PB and his Team Mate Sam Clayton was crowned Junior Champion also in a new PB. Kieron German joined the two boys to secure a 1, 2, 3 in the Senior Championship as he squeezed in between the two to take silver in yet another PB time. Kane Baker 12, produced a fantastic swim to win gold in his age group. Christopher Chapman took an amazing 30 seconds off his PB to take 4th place in the 12 years & Tom Howitt 13 swam a great race to take silver in his age group. Clayton was the golden boy in the 15 year category with a fantastic bronze medal going to Tim Newcombe as he produced a huge PB time in his swim. Dean Williamson took gold in the 16 years with Kieran German untroubled to take silver in the same age group. Andrew Hitchcox produced a good swim to take 4th place in the 16’s. Williamson recorded an Age Group Best Time on his way to the Championship. A great round of results for the Tigershark squad with their endurance and speed paying off. |
