Drove School Pupils Learn To Swim With Tigersharks!
Nearly 30 children from Drove School in Swindon have now being taught to swim thanks to a Top-up Swimming Scheme, run by Swindon Schools Sports Partnership & Tigersharks Amateur Swimming Club.
The seven-week programme held at The Health Hydro Pool in June & July was for children who had not previously attained the Key Stage 2 Level for Swimming, which is being able to swim 25 metres unaided, in a competent stroke.
Drove Head Teacher Nick Capstick commented, “We are delighted to have been part of this Scheme and are most grateful to Tigersharks and Swindon Schools Sports Partnership for their support. It has been a wonderful opportunity for our children to be able to learn to swim. Not only is it a vital life skill but also great fun! We look forward to continuing our partnership.”
Tigersharks ASC is one of Wiltshire’s leading competitive Clubs. It has an extensive Learn-To-Swim School and a very successful competitive section. The club was invited by SSSP to provide Learn To Swim School Coaches for Top-up Swimming Sessions, with the aim of creating closers ties between local Schools & Sports Clubs
School Liaison Officer for Tigersharks, Matthew Brown said: “We are very proud that our club was able to provide swimming teachers for this flagship programme. Being able to swim is not only potentially life saving, but also a life-long way to keep fit and an activity the whole family can enjoy together. I am pleased that working in partnership with the SSSP, has been able to help these pupils so practically.”
