The achievements of Dean Williamson over the past 12 months have been recognised by Wiltshire this week as he was voted Wiltshire Male swimmer of the Year 2008. Over the past twelve months Dean has produced some outstanding results. At the Regional Championships he scooped 1 gold, 1 silver and 2 bronze medals. He was the only Tigerhark male swimmer to achieve qualifying times for the British Championships where he produced personal best times on all four events he competed in. He recorded six National qualifying times this year. At the National competition Dean broke the long standing 200m Butterfly County record held by Simon Blythin of Wroughton since 1998, and in doing so he achieved a 6th place in the National Final. Unfortunately Dean was struck down with food poisoning cutting his competition short. He has already recorded three National times and one British Championship time for 2009. He has been Tigersharks club Captain for a year where he has involved himself in our younger swimmers development and has taken his Team Managers Level 1 so he can continue to spend more time with the young members of our club. Dean is always happy to shower praise and credit on other swimmers for their achievements and does not like the limelight placed on himself. However we agree his dedication, determination and achievements deserve Wiltshire’s recognition. Congratulations.
