TigersharksTigersharks Club Championships great success!

Tigersharks finished their Club Championships for 2008 last Sunday and everyone involved applauded the swimmers, coaches, Officials and Meet organisers as this being the best event for some years.

The event produced 65 new Age Group Best Times, Dean Williamson & Alex Jones swam inside the QT for 6 National events each, Sophie Hawkins 4 and Aaron Lee bettered the NQT he had swam at Sheffield last week by nearly a second.  23 swimmers swam inside Regional times for 2009 and far too many to count are hoping that their swims which were inside last years County times will make the grade when the times are released this month.

Stars to watch out for in the future are eight-year-olds, Ross Kennedy and Adam White. Nine year olds Daniel Jones, Ryan Gooch, Conor Keye, Megan Campbell, Catherine Gullen, Tayla Howie & Hannah Healy. Adam Brown and Sami Donmez who will be 10 for the Wiltshire competition will be great competitors with Brown swimming inside 3 Regional times for 2009 and Donmez just missing 2 time for 2009. 10 year olds Alex Eburne and Georgia Pearce were both in fantastic form with both swimmers knocking on the door of their regional times for 2009. Daniel Watt and Jake Hancock 11, both had some fantastic battles in the Frontcrawl events with Elliot Willoughby now starting to prove that technique and hard work always pays off. The 11 - 12 years girls was dominated by Ella Luffman but she was chased hard by relative new comer Loren Stone and also Charlotte Langley. However Sophie Roberts, who could not swim in the main events, was by far the strongest 12-year-old in the distance FC swims.

In the 13 – 14 year category Tigersharks have a raft of talented swimmers all swimming inside Regional times for 2009. Eleanor Hussey proved to be the strongest taking the 13-year girls title.

In the 13 –14 year boys Thomas Howitt who is in outstanding form at the moment proved he was by far the talent to be reckoned with by winning the 13-year boys by a huge margin. The highlight of his weekend was when he swam under 60 seconds for the 100m FC for the first time stopping the clock at 59.23 seconds. The 15 years and over saw a mixed bag of talent in the Boys with Aaron Lee dominating the Backstroke events, Alex Jones the Ind. Medley and Dean Williamson the Fly.

However the FC and BR events saw Alex Jones and Dean Williamson disputing some incredible finishes with only 100’ths between them. Williamson came out on top in the Frontcrawl – Breaststroke battle taking the 200m, 400 & 800m FC and the 50m & 100m BR with Jones spoiling his party in the 50m & 100m FC and 200m BR. In the 200m BR both both swam inside the Nation time with Jones on 2:25.60 and Williamson on 2:25.86. The 200m FC was even closer with Williamson finishing in 1:57.50 and Jones in 1:57.60.

In the Girls 15 years and over Stacey Wood was the Flyer of the weekend and Laura Young dominated the Breaststroke. Sophie Hawkins was in outstanding form as she smashed 22 Age Group best times, the 100m Individual Medley was a new Junior County Record in a time of 1:07.88 – on her way to her 22 AGBT Hawkins smashed Jazmin Carlin 200m FC time as she swam to an incredible 2:05.14
