Tigersharks Jazmin Carlin secures historic silver at Commonwealth Games in Delhi ![]() Tigersharks Jazz Carlin ended a 36-year medal drought for Welsh female swimmers at the Commonwealth Games to strike silver in the 200m Freestyle on day one in Delhi. Carlin qualified fifth fastest for the final but stormed through in the final 50m to move from sixth to second. Her split times below show the strength of her 2nd 100m on the way to the Silver medal:-
The 20-year old set a Welsh record of 1:58.29 to touch second behind Australia’s Kylie Palmer in the Dr SP Mukherjee Swimming Stadium. Her time also sets new records for Wiltshire and the South West. “It’s so long since a Welsh woman has won a medal in the pool,” said Carlin, who was lifting her first senior individual medal at an international level. “It’s such an honour and I’m really chuffed.” Tigersharks are delighted for Jazz and wish her continuing success this week as she swims her 400m FC and 4x200m FC relay. 4th October 2010
