Tigersharks High Flyer!
Jazz Carlin (15) was suffering with a heavy cold but still managed to produce a net of outstanding performances. Carlin took Gold in the 100, 400, 800 and 1500m Frontcrawl. All of her swims were also well inside the National Qualifying time for this years competition. Carlin was supreme in the 1500m Frontcrawl event where she finished almost 20 seconds in front of the 2nd place swimmer in her age group. In what was a very strong race for Jazz, she only gave way to the great Cassandra Patton (19) of Plymouth Leander. Jazz chose not to swim the 50 and 400m Frontcrawl events as she was too unwell. Team-mate Hayley Wood (17) missed out on her first National Qualifying time of 2006 by just one second but was boosted by a fantastic swim in the 1500m Frontcrawl where she took fourth place. Rachel Russell (16) was superb in her favoured event of 200m Butterfly when in the final of her event she improved by two places to take 4th place with ease. Her swim was a huge long course life time best. Craig Bull (17) had a great outing this weekend and was in top form when he also produced lifetime bests at the 100 and 200m Breaststroke. Craig was outstanding in the 200m Breaststroke where he swam an outstanding race to take 5th place in the final of this event. Aaron Lee (15) found himself as the fastest 15 year old in his 50m Backstroke final as he improved his performance from the heats by two places to snatch 4th place with a blistering swim. He also took 4th place in the 100m Butterfly where he swam very close to his 2nd National time for 2006. Natalie Montezuma thrilled her team-mates when she snatched the bronze medal in the 50m backstroke in what was a closely fought battle. Natalie also featured in the 100m backstroke final where she edged closer to her 100m backstroke National time leaving just 0.37 seconds to shave. In the 100m butterfly final Natalie came a creditable 8th in what was a very strong age group. Shaun Bracey (17) swam to a superb 4th place in the 100m backstroke but was unable to compete for the remainder of the weekend. Hannah Brown (14) and Kris Langley (16) both produced fine swims in the Breaststroke events improving on the times they had swum just two weeks ago at Crystal Palace. Stephanie Millin (14) produced a cracking 50m Frontcrawl time to leave herself just half a second off her National time for 2006. Tigersharks finished the weekend competition as the top Wiltshire Club in the medal table with four gold's and one bronze. |
