Tigertastic!
The strongest Age groups were the 9/10 girls and boys who won both the medley and frontcrawl races with ease. The boys team of Kane Baker (9) Jason Butt, Eddie Donmez and Josh Wheeler (10) streaking to victory with little trouble from any of the competition in both the medley and frontcrawl event. The girls team of Briony Merritt and Sophie Roberts (9) and Eleanor Hussey and Lauren Jones (10) were also in formidable form. In the medley race the girls left the field behind to win by 9 seconds. Unfortunately the victory was not to be when they were disqualified in what proved to be a contentious decision by the referee. The young sharks picked themselves up and in the freestyle relay they again dominated the field to take the gold by a clear five second margin. The 13/14 boys of Aaron Lee, Alex Jones, Dean Williamson and James Magness are known to be a strong force and the boys proved how strong they were in both the Frontcrawl and Medley relay. In the Frontcrawl they were just pipped into Silver by a strong Tornadoes team, but in the Medley the boys reversed the honours dominating the field from start to finish taking gold. The 13/14 girls did not want to be out done by their team mates and set out to make the medal rostrum. In the Frontcrawl relay the girl’s team of Stacey Wood, Stephanie Millin, Chloe Mills and Natalie Montezuma flew through the field to move through the ranks from 9th place to finish in the silver position. In the medley relay the team of Natalie Montezuma, Hannah Brown, Stacey Wood and Stephanie Millin were also ranked in 9th position. They were also in outstanding form and found themselves once again on the rostrum in a great 2nd place. The 15/16 boys of Shaun Bracey, Grant Turner, Frankie Peters and Craig Bull swam great races in both the Frontcrawl and Medley relays to take two Silver medals and the 11/12 year old girls of Danielle Harris, Siobhan Tierney, Hayley Towner and Sophie Hawkins finished just outside the medal placings in 4th place in both their events A very worthwhile outing for the young shark’s team. |
