Tigersharks Jazz Carlin dropped in for a training session this morning with her old team-mates as she prepared to fly out to Sardinia with the GB team. Jazz will be taking part in a training camp in Sardinia prior to competing in the World Swimming Championships in Rome from 26th July to 2nd August 2009. Now based with her Coach, Bud McAllister at the Swansea Intensive Training Centre Jazz has found herself challenging not only some of the best swimmers in the country but also in the world. Jazz is currently showing in the top 25 world rankings for 2009 at 200m FC, 400m FC and 800m FC. Astonishingly she holds 8th and 9th spot in the world in the 400m and 800m FC. Her work with Bud is obviously paying dividends and she has expressed her admiration for him many times. Jazz is no stranger to International competition having competed many times for Wales and Great Britain over the past few years. Some of her greatest competitions have seen her compete at the Commonwealth Games, European SC Championships, Tri Nations in Canada, Youth Commonwealth Championships and the European Juniors. As an 18-year-old, she is Great Britains outstanding leader in the 200m, 400m & 800m events, and now mixes well with the best in all age groups. Jazz currently holds British National records for the 18 year girls at 200m and 400m FC. Jazz was selected to swim the 1500m FC and 4 x200m FC relay in Rome but on the advice of British Swimming she has decided to focus on her part in the relay team where she will be swimming along side some world class girls. Her Team-mates in the 4 x 200m relay are world record holders Rebecca Adlington and Joanne Jackson and 2008 Olympic swimmer Caitlin McClatchey. Together they make a formidable team who have a real chance of bring home a medal for Team GB. Jazz has a desire and commitment that you cannot fault and her dream of swimming for Great Britain in the 2012 Olympics in London is something she will continue to work towards over the next few years. However her sights are set on performing well in Rome and then qualifying for the 2010 Commonwealth Games for Wales and the 2010 European LC Champions for Great Britain. Tigersharks are very proud of Jazz and wish her every success in Rome and beyond. |
