Sharks Shine

Tigersharks C journeyed to Corsham for Round 2 of the Division 6 Summer League Gala against Corsham B & Marlborough B. With only 2 points separating all 3 teams after Round 1 it was always going to be a close encounter & the young Sharks rose to the occasion leading all the way until 2 costly disqualifications in the latter stages meant that they had to settle for a very creditable 2 nd place behind the host club.

The sharks recorded 21 victories in the 50 event competition with Team Captain Dave Quinlivan claiming a double in the 100IM & 100m Breaststroke. He combined with Mark Wadsworth, Andrew Hitchcox & Matthew Smithson to win the Open medley relay. The U12 boys were in fine form with individual wins for Matthew Wood (25m Breast) & debutante Thomas Howitt(25m Freestyle) & joined forces with Harry Martin & Jamie Towner to storm home in the medley relay. 11 year old Martin also claimed top spot in the U14 50m fly & team-mate Alex Wood showed a clean pair of heels in both the U14 breaststroke & freestyle. Matthew Smithson left the opposition in his wake in the U16 freestyle managing to break the 30 second barrier for the 1st time.

The U12 girl's team were outstanding with individual victories for Lucy Stratton (freestyle), Michaela Boniface (breaststroke) & J Alojado (backstroke) & combining with Maddi Wheeler the girls claimed top spot in both the medley & freestyle relays. The U14 team of Amy thrush, Jade Woodhams, Alex Lee & Jordan Woodhams took the victory in the medley relay & there were individual wins for Lee in the freestyle & Jordan Woodhams in the breaststroke. Zoe Thrush kept the flag flying for the sharks in the U16 50m backstroke & joined forces with the Woodham twins & Louise Wadsworth to win both the U16 medley & freestyle relay.

This was a great performance from this young team leaving it all to play for in the final round at Wroughton in September.

Meanwhile Tigersharks D team were also on top form when they won their gala at Milton Road . The event was a two horse race as Tisbury put on a brave fight with a severely depleted team. Pewsey and Tidworth were not easy opposition and fought Tigersharks D all the way. However Tigersharks D swimmers proved to be the stronger team on the night. Sharks produced fantastic swimming all night and out did their C team counterparts with 24 first place swims from the 50 event gala. Once again the U/12 girls were outstanding with double wins in the relays and 3 out of 4 first place individual wins.

Winners on the night were Paul Chilcott (2) Tristram Ireland , Daniel Forder (2), Lewis Ford, Laura Goode (2), Anne Fitzpatrick, Rachel Evans, Heidi Wilson, Rebecca Jones, Maddie Gill, Natalie Jones, Nicola Fogerty, and Charlotte Langley. Relay team wins were achieved by, Girls U/12 Free and Medley – Charlotte Langley, Maddie Gill, Heidi Wilson and Samantha Hiscocks. U/16 Boys Medley – Jack Durrant, Lloyd Langley, Tristram Ireland & Christopher Chapman. U/16 Girls Medley – Rebecca Jones, Michaela Webber, Laura Goode & Nicola Fogerty. U/14 Girls Medley – Holly Luker, Charlotte Langley, Georgia Durrant & Michaela Webber. Open Girls Free – Anne Fitzpatrick, Rebecca Jones, Natalie Jones, and Rachel Evans. Open Boys Medley and Free – Paul Chilcott, Lloyd Langley, Daniel Forder, and Tristram Ireland & Ian Fitzpatrick.

A superb start for the D team with some very strong swims from many swimmers.
