OliverBethanieSummer League Sensations!

Tigersharks embarked on the first round of the Moonraker Summer League 2009 last night. Tigersharks had decided not to swim National or multiple Regional qualifiers in the competition for the first time.

This decision was to give developing swimmers the opportunity to compete and also not to over swim our members who were already competing many times during the months of March – July.  This proved to be the right decision for our swimmers based on last night’s results.

Swimming at Warminster the team found themselves behind from events 1 to 16 with a strong Warminster team forging into the lead.

However from event 17, when the Tigersharks team drew level through to the end of the gala the young team never looked back to take the evenings event by 15 points. The swimmers amassed a fantastic 21 individual personal best times and 35 relay split times throughout the evening.

Two of the winning individual swims came from, Bethany Wakefield, 50m FC & Oliver Howitt 50m BR (both pictured above) their swims were outstanding personal best times which had just been set the weekend before in the Southern Junior League.  Other team-mates who produced wins and PB’s on the night were, Rachel Russell 100m IM, Ryan Gooch 50m Fly, Ella Luffman 50m FC & Daniel Jones 50m BK. Matthew Magness was a double winner in the 50m BK & 50m Fly both in PB times.

Tigersharks were dominant in the relay events winning 11 out of 16.
Relay winners were the boy’s U/12 team in both the Medley and FC – Daniel Jones, Ryan Gooch, Oliver Howitt and Alexander Wakeham. U/12 Girls Medley team – Hannah Healy, Beth Wakefield, Darcey James & Amy Richards. U/14 Boys Med & FC – Jake Hancock, Dan Watt, Ben Jones & Matthew Magness. U/14 Girls Med & FC – Loren Stone, Ella Luffman, Charlotte Langley & Georgie Manning. U/16 Girls Medley and FC – Melissa Glass, Lauren Jones, Rebecca Healy, Michaela Boniface & Bethan Webster.
