Tigersharks Back as a Dominant Force! Tigersharks were once again on top form this weekend at the Wiltshire Sprint Competition dispelling any ideas from other clubs that ‘Tigersharks cannot sprint!'
In the back stroke events Tigersharks dominated the pool. The boys took first place in the 9years (Kane Baker) 10 years (Joshua Wheeler) 12 years (Matthew Jones, 13 years (James Magness) 14 years (Aaron Lee) 15 years (Shaun Bracey) and 16 years (grant Turner). In the girls event the young Sharks snatched a medal in every single age group with the exception of the 17/18 age group where they had no swimmer. In the 10 years age group Tigersharks had a clean sweep with Eleanor Hussey (gold) Lauren Jones (Silver) and Rosemary Broad (Bronze). 12 year old Matthew Jones won 3 of his 4 swims with ease only missing out on the Butterfly where he took bronze. Shaun Bracey (15) was also swimming on top form. Shaun took Silver in the Frontcrawl and Gold in the Backstroke and Fly where he reached the championship finals of both events. Shaun battled to take Gold in the Junior Championship of the Fly and Silver in the Backstoke where in the heats he also broke the 15 year old Age Group Best Time.
Natalie Montezuma was the surprise package of the Sharks girls. At 13 years old Natalie not only won her age group in the Butterfly and Backstroke she also made the championship final of the girls backstroke. As the youngest swimmer by two years Natalie was unphased and swam a great race to take silver in both the Senior and Junior Championships. Natalie also broke the 13-year age group best time. Team Mates Hayley Wood and Kate Taylor were also in superb form. Hayley took Bronze in the Froncrawl and Backstroke and was unbeatable in the Butterfly where she took the gold and qualified for the championship final. Along with Kate Taylor, Hayley took the Silver in the Senior Championships and Kate matched this achievement to take Silver in the Junior Championship. Kate also snatched Bronze in the girl's 15 years frontcrawl. Jazmin carlin was on top form. Known, as only as a distance Frontcrawl swimmer Jazz was out to disprove this myth. Jaz took Bronze in the backstroke, Silver in her worst stroke the Butterfly and Gold in the Breaststroke and Frontcrawl. In the Frontcrawl at 14 Jaz was the youngest swimmer in the Championship final. Jaz took Silver in the Junior Championships and in doing so broke the Age Group Best Time, which had been held for 10 years by Bethan Smith. Other Tigerhshark Meadlists were: Alex Jones, Cory Lotter, Frankie Peters, Dean Williamson, Craig Bull, Jon Lee, Sophie Hawkins, Hayley Towner, Stacey Wood and Zoe St-George. |
