Tigersharks continue to shine

Aiko Takahashi

Tigersharks swimmers have continued to produce outstanding swims in the past month. A group of swimmers competed at the Derby Open meet at ponds Forge, Sheffield where they racked up National and Regional times.

Aiko Takahashi notched up her first NQT of 2011 in the 200m BK in a superb swim. She hopes to add the 100m BK, 100m & 200m Fly and 200m & 400m IM in time for the National Competition this year. Sophie Hawkins swam outstandingly well at the same competition edging towards her 50m BK and 100m FC NQT’s for 2011, however she knows she will have to work very hard to achieve these in time. Craig Harris, Conor Keye, Rebecca Cook & Abigail Davidson swam very well also edging closer to their NQT’s with every swim. Jacob Roberts is also possibly knocking on the door of his 100m BK and 50m FC.

Meanwhile at the Corsham Open meet & Tigersharks Level 2 meet over the last two weekends the Regional times continue to come in thick and fast with the number of swimmers now qualified for 2011 rising to 33. Abbie Crook (10) has now qualified for 8 Regional swims with only the Butterfly eluding her. Her 200m Back and Breast swims were particularly outstanding. Abbie who is still 9yrs is definitely proving to be a great talent. Pocket Rocket, Tivvy Durrant (9yrs) is going to be a force to be reckoned with at the forth coming Wiltshire competition. Tivvy has swum within 2 regional times for a 10 year old. A competition she cannot attend for 16 months! She swam a massive 13 seconds inside the 200m Butterfly QT with a time of 3:15.00 as well as 5 seconds inside the 200m FC QT with a time of 2:45.00. She was also very close to the 200m BK and 200m IM. What an exciting prospect.

Rebecca Cook smashed the 50m, 100m and 200m Breaststroke 11/U Club records re-writing records held by the great Isla Hull. Cook also now holds the fastest ever 200m BR time swum by an 11 year old, in Wiltshire since British rankings were recorded by the ASA in 1998. Conor Keye and Craig Harris can also boast the same achievements in their Breaststroke and Backstroke swims.

Craig also smashed the 50m, 100m and 200m 11/U Back records and Conor Keye took the 100m, 200m, 400m FC, 200m BR and 200m IM 11/U Club records. Alex Eburne is simply flying this year producing one Regional time after another and taking huge amounts off each swim. Elliot Willoughby and Jake Hancock started racking up and adding to their times for 2011 while Daniel Jones added more Regional times proved he was in outstanding form as he smashed through his PB’s. Momoko Takahashi added to her Regional bag at Derby and again in Swindon while Oliver Howitt produced outstanding swims to net his first 2 Regional times for 2011. Rebecca Flack and Abigail Davidson were also in phenomenal form as they increased their tally of RQT in both the Backstroke and Butterfly.

New swimmer to Tigersharks, Emma Pearce (13) proved what a great addition she is to Tigersharks particularly with some outstanding FC and Fly swims. Michaela Boniface, Chris Chapman & Ella Luffman all swam outstanding times this weekend improving and adding RQT’s for 2011.

Jake Patey, Rebecca Maddocks, Megan Campbell and Lucy Gotta are swimming faster every time they compete and are hoping to land those RQT’s at the Wiltshire competitions.

Meanwhile the number of County Qualifiers (50m and above) for 2011 has swelled to 94 with our youngest age groups proving to be the strongest we have had for many years.
