Tigersharks found themselves in a tough battle in the first round of the Speedo League Western at Bournemouth. The team found the going tough but managed to hang onto third place for most of the evening and in the overall placings. Double first place swims went to Dean Williamson 100m FC and 100m Butterfly with first place swims going to Alex Jones 100m FC, Sophie Hawkins 100m FC, Sophie Roberts 50m BK. The boys 15/U FC & Medley team of Dean Williamson, Sam Clayton, Kieron German & Matthew Jones were easy winners in both of their relays. Tigersharks FC swimmers were in outstanding form. Sophie Roberts (11) broke the girls 11/U club record with her individual 50m swim in a time of 29.91 seconds. Sophie Hawkins (14) almost toppled into the 58’s with her swim in the 100m FC of 59.09 and Dean Williamson who had spent the evening being physically sick with a tummy bug still managed to pull out a personal best time of 55.03 seconds in his 100m FC and 25.08 in the 50m FC. Briony Merritt (12) pulled out the stops when she clocked 30.18 in her 50m FC and Steph Millin dipped into the 28’s for the first time with a time of 28.98 in the girls Open FC relay. Sam Clayton clocked 26.62 to produce a relay split over a second faster than he has ever swum and James Magness also produced a fine split of 26.30 to swim the fastest he has ever gone in a FC relay. However on the night Bournemouth and Ferndown were untouchable with some outstanding swims from both teams. Final Score:
