Tigersharks Go The Distance

Tigersharks swimmers were in outstanding form at the South West Region Distance event on Saturday.

Alexander Jones (15) was in his usual formidable form. Competing over 800m Frontcrawl he produced the fastest time of the afternoon breaking both the Tigersharks Club Record and Wiltshire County Record (subject to ratification) and easily secured his 7 th National Qualifying time for 2007.

Team-mate Dean Williamson (15) racked up his first National Qualifying time for 2007 as he also swam inside the qualifying time for the 800m Frontcrawl. Kieron German (14) and Sam Clayton (13) both clocked huge personal best times over the Long Course pool in the same event.

The girls took on the gruelling 1500m Frontcrawl in a bid to secure a top ten place in their age group for the National BagCat competition in July. Briony Merritt (11) proved to be to strong for the other eleven year old girls as she produced a fantastic time it what was a superbly swam race. Lauren Jones (12) and Rosemary Broad (13) also planted strong times in the same event where Lauren placed 3 rd and Rosie 5 th in their age groups. The girls will have to take on this event again nearer the National Age Groups in a bid to better their times and make the grade for July.
