Tigersharks were top of yet another medal table this weekend as they finished as top Wiltshire club at the South West Region Championships. The swimmers were in formidable form as they cruised to championship titles, medal places and finals. Tigersharks finished second in the medal table, well behind Plymouth Leander but in front of many other major clubs.

Alex Jones (15) dominated the Individual Medley events as he finished as Junior and Senior Champion in both the 200m and 400m event, breaking the 200m IM County record on his way. He also took the 100m and 400m FC Junior titles and 800m FC Junior and Senior titles. All five events were easily inside his National Qualifying times for 2008.
Dean Williamson (15) was also in dominate form as he was unbeatable in the 50m and 100m Butterfly where he took the Junior Championship titles and in the 200m Butterfly where he showed his incredible strength to take the Junior and Senior Titles. He also was well inside his National Qualifying times for 2008 and also bettered his British Championship times for 2008.
Sophie Hawkins (14) was suffering from quite a nasty ankle injury but determination was clear as she was untroubled in her quest to win the Junior 100m Freestyle championship title in a time of 1:00.13. This was an improvement on her National Qualifying time but was also her first British Championship QT for 2008.
Kieran German (15) was superb in the 200m, 400m & 800m Freestyle producing great personal best times. His 800m Freestyle time leaves him very close to his first every National Qualifying time and was good enough to place him in 2nd place in both the Junior and Senior Championship.
Sam Clayton (14) charged to a bronze medal place in the championship final of the 200m Butterfly in a personal best time. As one of the youngest swimmers in the final he was not put off by the competition and swam a very strong race to set his mark.
Natalie Montezuma (16) featured in three finals and produced personal best times in them all. Her 50m & 100m backstroke swims were both within very easy reach of her NQT’s for 2008. Laura Young (15) swam very well to reach the final of the 50m Breaststroke where she improved her heat swim and James Magness (16) also produced a great swim in the 200m Backstroke to reach the championship final.
Rosie Broad (13), Matthew Jones (15) and Briony Merritt (12) all swam very well to top off a fantastic weekend for Tigersharks where their strength and training showed through.
