Tigersharks areTop of the Crop atWiltshire YouthCompetition!
This weekend’s competition produced some stunning swimming from all across the County with no one club outshining another. The girl’s competition was fiercely fought over all events but with a few swimmers showing their strength in particular strokes. Emily Weston (14) had a superb 2 weekends of competition taking gold in the 100m Fly, 50m FC, 200m FC, 200m IM & 3rd in the 50m FC skins competition. She also featured in many Junior and Championship top six positions. Sophie Roberts (14) was also on great form winning the 100m BK, 2nd 50m FC, 50m Fly & 200m BK and 5th in the coveted 50m FC skins. She also featured in many Junior and Championship top six positions. Sophie Hawkins who had missed out on becoming Wiltshire Champion in her favourite event the 50m FC picked herself up and swam an outstanding 100m IM smashing the AGBT, CBT and recording the only Wiltshire County Record of the weekend as she powered her way through the final. She was also runner up in the 50m FC skins final. Sophie also notched up Age Group wins in the 200m FC, 100m BK, 50m Fly. She culminated her weekend by smashing the AGBT and stealing the 100m Championship title in the 100m FC with clear water behind her. Bethan Webster (16) swam very well to take Age Group gold’s in the 100m BK, 50m BR, 100m & 200m BR. She also recorded her first Regional qualifying times for 2010 in the 100m & 200m BR. Two Tigersharks male swimmers dominated the men’s senior events. Jacob Roberts (16) swam a great 100m IM to take gold in the 16 years along with numerous top three places. He also featured in the championship finals for the 200m FC and 100m IM. Aiko Takahashi (12) added her name to the ever-growing list of National Qualifiers for 2010 as she screeched her way to the 100m & 200m BK and 400m IM standard for this year BagCat competition. The Top Swimmer awards saw Tigersharks swimmers do the Double as Sophie Hawkins scored 709 points for her 100m Frontcrawl and Alexander Jones scored 723 points for his 400m IM. Hawkins just edging out Stephanie Clutterbuck of Trowbridge and Jones doing the same to his team-mate Dean Williamson of Tigersharks. The competition now moves onto the Bagcat events where Tigersharks expect to continue their superb form. |
