Sophie Roberts, Sam Clayton & Briony MerrittTigersharks Last Chance was top opportunity!

Tigersharks Last Chance Open Meet proved to be a top opportunity for many swimmers this weekend. Swimmers had travelled from all over the country to have one last crack at National Qualifying times or to simply improve their current best times.

The meet proved a resounding success for many swimmers who snatched their NQT's on the last qualification weekend for the National Youth Competition. BagCat swimmers still have their District weekends to achieve their times.

Tigersharks Sam Clayton, Briony Merritt & Sophie Roberts all have the Districts to come but did not want to leave themselves wanting. Sam Clayton (14) added National times to his 100m Butterfly in the 200m Butterfly and the 400m Individual Medley. Briony Merritt (11) boosted her total of NQT's to 7 when she snatched the 100m Frontcrawl and 400m Individual Medley to her haul. Sophie Roberts (11) has been promising her 1 st ever-National Time since the Wiltshire Age Groups and yesterday was the day. Roberts cruised to her National Time in the 100m Backstroke in a time of 1:15.23.

Swimmers to watch - Tigersharks rising stars Alex Eburne and Georgia Pearce, who have both just turned 9 years old proved what outstanding potential they both are. Alex and Georgia were in fantastic form as they out swam many 9 and 10 & 11 year olds to take medals in every event they entered. Thomas Howitt (12) and Jacob Roberts (13) have both recently burst onto the scene smashing District Qualifying times with ease. Emily Weston, Melissa Glass & Michaela Boniface have also made astounding leaps forward again swimming inside District qualifying times with ease.

Credit must also be given to the Senior District Squad who have made enormous improvements in their performances over the past two months. Steph Millin, Ben Richardson, Tim Newcombe, Andrew Hitchcox, Alissa Johnson, Tom Ryczanowski & Louise Wadsworth all produce substantial personal best times. Congratulations to them and their coaches.

Ciaran Alstowe, Jason Butt, Kane Baker, Alex Lee, Amy Thrush, Rebecca Healy, Charlotte Langley, Jade & Jordan Woodhams, Emily Rodderick, Rebecca Hussey, Rhian Merritt, Jake Hancock, Lewis Ford, Hadley & Robson Sutton, Christopher Waite, Luisana Toner, Christopher Chapman & Toby Heaton, all made massive improvements on times set only last month.

A fantastic event, well worth running again in 2008!
