Tigersharks Topple Opposition

Tigersharks A and B teams were out in force this weekend at the first round of the Moonraker Summer League.

Tigersharks A took on Swindon Dolphin A, Trowbridge A and Chippenham A at the Link centre. Tigersharks took an early narrow lead in the first quarter and although the gala points remained close Tigersharks never looked back with some great races between all four teams However Tigersharks produced 27 wins out of 50 with another 12 races where the young sharks finished in 2 nd place. These performances put together ensured the team was strong enough to take first place overall on the night.

First place individual swims were achieved by:- Jaime King 100m IM & 100m Breast, Jason Butt (11) 50m Butterfly and 50m Frontcrawl, Hayley Towner (13) 50m Butterfly, Sophie Hawkins (13) 50m Frontcrawl, Stacey Wood (14) 100m Butterfly, Dean Williamson (14) 100m Breaststroke, Eleanor Hussey (11 50m Butterfly, Briony Merritt (10) & Kane Baker (10) 50m Backstroke, James Magness (14) 100m Backstroke, Natalie Montezuma (14) 100m Backstroke x 2, Aaron Lee (15) 100m Butterfly, Jazz Carlin (15) 100m Frontcrawl.

Relay wins were achieved by:- Boys and Girls U/12 Medley and Frontcrawl, Girls U/14 medley and Frontcrawl, U/16 Boys medley and Frontcrawl, Girls U/16 Girls Frontcrawl and Girls Open Frontcrawl.

Boys U/12 – Kane Baker, Eddie Donmez, Oliver Richmond & Jason Butt

Girls U/12 – Briony Merrit, Melissa Cheetham, Eleanor Hussey & Sophie Roberts

Girls U/14 – Siobhan Tierney, Hayley Towner, Faye Millin & Sophie Hawkins

Boys U/16 – Alex Jones, Aaron Lee, James Magness & Dean Williamson

Girls U/16 – Natalie Montezuma, Stacey Wood, Stephanie Millin, Sophie Hawkins

Girls Open – Natalie Montezuma, Jaime King, Sophie Hawkins & Jazz Carlin

Meanwhile Tigersharks B were in also in a very closely fought battle with Salisbury A team. The Sharks were the only B team at their gala so would have their work cut out. However true to form Tigershark swimmers were not going to give up without a strong fight. With triple individual wins from team Captain Hayley Wood in the 100m IM, Backstroke and Frontcrawl and further wins from Olivia Gingell (11) in the 50m Butterfly and Frontcrawl, Matthew Jones (13) 100m Frontcrawl, Lauren Jones (11) 50m Breast & 50m Back, Rosemary Broad (12) 50m Butterfly & Frontcrawl, Shannon Pink (11) 50m Breaststroke, Daniel Butt (14) 100m Backstroke & Rachel Waine (10) 50m Backstroke. This added to relay wins from Girls U/12 Medley and Frontcrawl and Girls Open Frontcrawl relay left Tigersharks just four point short of a first round win.
