Tough Start to the Sx3 Arena League Campaign

The Swindon Swim Squad swimmers found the first round of the Arena League tough going at Millfield School in Street on Saturday.

With six top swimmers missing the team struggled with very strong opposition and having to swim far too many events to produce their best performances.

Craig Harris and Conor Key (11yrs) were both outstanding with Craig taking first place in the 50m Back and Free and Conor top spot in the 50m Breast. Conor Keye still only 11years old also managed a third place in the 100m Breast in the 13/U age group in a great personal best time. The two boys were joined by Daniel Jones and Ryan Gooch to take a double win in the 4x50m Freestyle and Medley relays in the 11/U age group. Rebecca Cook (11) was the only other winner on the night as she cruised to a very easy victory in the 50m Breast.

Personal best times came thick and fast though with all of the swimmers battling to the end of the competition. Expectations remained high with a superb team spirit from all the swimmers who were proud to be swimming under the Sx3 Banner.
