13!!! Is lucky for some

Two Tigersharks 13 year old swimmers produced stunning swims this weekend at the Wiltshire Youth and Championship Competition.

Sophie Roberts and Emily Weston found themselves treading the boards of the podium in Junior Championships at just 13 years old. Emily Weston produced an outstanding swim in the 400m Individual Medley to take the Junior Championship title. Her time of 5:22.82 was a massive personal best time and was too good for the other Junior girls to beat. Sophie Roberts rocketed into silver position in the Junior Girls 50m FC and also found herself in the converted ‘Skins’ Competition at just 13 years old. Although only staying in for two rounds Sophie can feel sure that she will be in the competition for many more years to come.

Meanwhile the Open Men’s Championships were being dominated by Tigersharks Swimmers. From 12 events over this weekend Tigersharks men were victorious in 8.

Kieron German produced a fantastic PB to take the 400m FC title, while Alexander Jones proved to be the best in the 400m IM, 100m IM & 200m Backstroke. Dean Williamson stormed into first place in the 100m Butterfly, 100m Breaststroke, 50m Butterfly and to top off a superb weekend he powered to victory in the 50m FC Skins event. This leaving just 4 events to be shared amongst the rest of Wiltshire.

Sophie Hawkins was in superb form this weekend making the final of every event she swam in and competing in all but one of these. Here outstanding performances came in the 200m FC where she took the Championship title, 100m IM when broke the Championship Best time and then matching her team-mate she was also crowned champion of the 50m Skins competition. Sophie won every event she entered in her Age Group with the exception of two Breaststroke events.

Rosie Broad who is returning to form following a back injury was proving what a versatile swimmer she can be. Rosie stunned everyone as she took on her 3rd 100m Butterfly swim in less than 1.5 hours to win the Junior Championship title. She was also very close to winning the 100m IM title but had to settle for a fantastic 2nd place just behind the BOA swimmer.

Jacob Roberts swam very well this weekend featuring in new fewer than 6 Junior Championships. In the 400m FC he just missed out on the championship title to take 2nd, in the 100m IM and 100m Breaststroke he was in a podium position again when he snatched 3rd place in the Junior Championship.

Other swimmers who featured in Championship and Junior Championship top six places were, James Magness, Aaron Lee, Sam Clayton, Stacey Wood, Laura Young, Lauren Jones & Rachel Russell.

Additional great medal performances in the Age Groups went to Bethan Webster, Tim Newcombe, Tom Ryczanowski, Alexandra Lee & Stephanie Millin.
