Tigersharks young stars outstanding at Winter Open MeetYoung Stars - Alex & Daniel, Abigail, Megan & Rebecca M, Rebecca C & Momoko

Tigersharks youngest swimmers showed what an outstanding talent they were this weekend at the Level 2 Winter Open Meet. With still four or five qualifying months to go for the Regional Competition they wasted no time in laying down their intent to swim at Millfield in May & June.

10 year old Rebecca Maddocks is now the owner of nine Regional qualifying times, netting the 100m, 200m, 400m FC. 100m, 200m BK, 100m, 200m BR and 200m & 400m IM. An outstanding performance for one weekend and great future talent.

10 year old Daniel Jones can also boast the same amount of times as he rounded off his weekend to add his too 100m,
200m, 400m FC. 100m, 200m BK, 100m, 200m FLY and 200m& 400m IM.

9 year old Momoko Takahashi who will be 10 years for the Regional competition bagged herself the 100m, 200m BK. 100m, 200m FLY and 400m IM. With times just outside the 200m, 400m FC and 200m IM.

10 year old Rebecca Cook who will turn 11 years for the Regional competition sliced an incredible 17 seconds of a time she posted in December to book her first ever Regional QT in the 200m BR. She narrowly missed the 100m BR time and is within striking distance off the 200m and 400m FC.

10 year old Megan Campbell was in outstanding form as she rocketed to her first Regional times in the 100m & 200m BR a testament to the hard work she has done over the past year on her technical skills.

11 year old seasoned performer Abigail Davidson produced an outstanding swim in the 100m FLY to net her first 2010 QT and took an amazing 30 seconds off her 400m IM time to be just one second outside of the required standard for that event. 11 year old Alex Eburne, who will be 12yrs for the Regional competition, powered his way to his 100m & 200m BK QT’s and just missed out on the 100m FLY time.

14 year old Ella Luffman swam to her first ever individual Regional qualification in the 200m BK and edged towards two more. Matthew Magness (14) just seems to be unstoppable at the moment swimming to a new QT with every swim. His 400m IM saw him reduce his time by 10 seconds and his 400m FC by 5 seconds, again on time’s only posted in December. Chris Chapman produced some fine swims and missed his first ever Regional time by just 0.35 second. Seasoned performers Michaela Boniface & Jake Hancock did the same in the 200m BR and 200m BK respectively… producing great swims with a sign of great things to come.

Aiko Takahashi fell agonisingly close to her 200m BK NQT missing out by less than a second on her first 2010 time. Sophie Hawkins did the same in the 200m, 400m FC & 200m IM missing out on adding to her tally of NQT’s already posted for 2010. Emily Weston produced outstanding 200m and 400m IM swims moving her within a touch of her first NQT’s for 2010. Sophie Roberts was in outstanding form also edging closer to her 50m & 100m FC NQT’s to add to her already posted British Championship time.

With a 92% PB rate for Tigersharks Swimmers this weekend, the club can look forward to some fantastic swimming this year. A great start to 2010.
